POLICY ON THE USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)

This policy defines the rules for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the preparation of articles for publication in the journal “Geology and Geochemistry of Combustible Minerals.” Its purpose is to ensure academic integrity, transparency, and accountability.

Disclosure of AI Use

  • Authors are required to explicitly state any use of AI for:
    ○ Text generation;
    ○ Creation of illustrations or graphics;
    ○ Data analysis or processing;
    ○ Other supporting tasks.

For example:
“An AI tool [name] was used to prepare part of the text and to check the style.”

Authorship and Responsibility

  • AI cannot be listed as an author of an article.
  • Responsibility for all conclusions, data, and interpretations rests with the human authors.

Verification of Accuracy

  • All facts, data, and conclusions generated or processed by AI must be carefully verified by the authors.
  • Submission of material based solely on AI output without expert review is prohibited.

Use of AI for Data Analysis

  • If AI is used for statistics, modeling, or large-scale data processing, authors must describe:
    • The algorithms and parameters used;
    • The limitations of the methodology;
    • The reproducibility of the results by other researchers.

Ethics and Confidentiality

  • AI must not process personal data without proper anonymization and consent.
  • Authors should consider potential algorithmic biases and disclose them in the text if they affect the results.

Editorial Oversight

  • Editors and reviewers have the right to verify compliance with this policy.
  • In case of non-compliance, the article may be rejected or returned for revision.
