The scientific journal “Geology and Geochemistry of Combustible Minerals” is the successor of the republican interdepartmental collection, which was published since 1965. In 1991, the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine initisted to publish the scientific journal “Geology and Geochemistry of Combustible Minerals”.

The founders of the journal are the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Institute of Geology and Geochemistry of Combustible Minerals, the Ukrainian Oil and Gas Academy.

Journal Aim

To promote the development of fundamental and applied research in the geology and geochemistry of combustible minerals and to integrate Ukrainian science into the international research community.

  2. Dissemination of modern methods for exploration, assessment, and sustainable use of combustible minerals.
  3. Promotion of interdisciplinary research that bridges science and practice.

Scientific Topics

The journal publishes general theoretical, applied, and methodological articles on problems of geology and geochemistry of combustible minerals. In particular, it covers the following topics:

  • regional geology, stratigraphy, paleogeography, and tectonics of provinces of combustible minerals, conditions of formation and patterns of distribution of their deposits;
  • issues of sedimentology and lithology of combustible mineral provinces;
  • genesis of combustible minerals – oil, gas, coal, oil shales, etc.;
  • structural features of the Earth’s crust within oil and gas provinces;
  • reservoir properties of productive horizons of oil and gas fields;
  • methods of prospecting, exploration, and assessment of forecast resources of combustible mineral deposits;
  • geochemistry of deep fluids associated with processes occurring in the upper mantle and Earth’s crust;
  • chemical and isotopic composition of combustible minerals;
  • modeling of formation and metamorphism processes of combustible minerals;
  • migration of oil and gas;
  • issues of geotechnology of combustible minerals;
  • geochemistry of rare and dispersed elements in rocks of oil- and gas-bearing and coal-bearing regions;
  • petroleum hydrogeology and environmental geology.
