Abstract

Geochemical peculiarities of river and groundwaters of the Outer zone of the Precarpathian deep have been established. It is revealed that the main feature of the distribution of salt composition indicators in the Dniester River and its influxes is hydrochemical zonality, which does not depend on the flow direction of the rivers, but is consistent with the physics-geographical and geological features of the area to which the man-made factor is imposed.

There is an increase in concentrations of sulfate, calcium in the left bank confluent of the river Shchyrka. The waters from the Tysmenytsya, Kolodnitsa and Dniester rivers in the village Kolodrubi are characterized by the highest amounts of sodium and chlorides and are sodium chloride-hydrocarbonate composition. The water composition of the Dniester River (Rozvadiv village), its confluents Bystrytsia and Letnyanka are hydrocarbonate calcium (sodium-magnesium-calcium), Shchyrka, Vereshchitsa – sulfate-hydrocarbonate calcium (magnesium-calcium). The index of biochemical oxygen consumption for 5 days in the waters of Tysmenytsya River reached 4.5 mg O2/dm3, while in other rivers it was 0.70‒3.20 mg O2/dm3. The content of O2 soluble in the waters of the river Vereshchytsya was 0.29 mg/dm3, the value of biochemical oxygen consumption was 11.4 mg O2/dm3.

In the chemical composition of river waters, there is an increase in the concentrations of sodium, potassium and chloride ions from the left bank to the right bank confluents of the Dniester. In the left-bank confluents, in the chemical composition of water dominate the contents of calcium and hydrocarbons ions.

The heterogeneity of the lithological composition, the instability of the thickness of the aquifer both in the horizontal and vertical directions, and the different technogenic influence form the irregularity of pollution and its local distribution in groundwater.

Abstract

Geochemical composition of main components of natural gas has been analysed for three oil- and gas-bearing regions of the Ukraine, namely: Western (40 fields of the Precarpathian deep, 4 gas fields of the Transcarpathian deep and 2 gas fields located within the limits of the Lviv Paleozoic deep), Eastern (composition of natural gases at 12 fields) and Southern (analysis of data on chemical composition of natural gases from 8 fields in the water area of the deep and 13 fields on land).

Comparative analysis of the composition of natural hydrocarbons has been carried out within the limits of the Western region based on the main structural-tectonic elements of the region: outer and inner zones of the Precarpathian deep, the Transcarpathian deep and the Lviv Paleozoic deep; within the Eastern region – the Northern edge of the deep and the deep itself; within the Southern region – water area and land. On this basis the definite zonality of the distribution of hydrocarbon components of natural gases within the bounds of the oil-gas regions has been determined. Such different composition of gases testifies to independent sources of hydrocarbon supply and different duration of migration of the latter.

The analyses of the features of the distribution of the components of natural gas of main oil- and gas-bearing regions of the Ukraine and of the gas presence in the aggregate have enabled us to determine main aspects of the processes both of lateral and vertical migration of hydrocarbons.

Abstract

The Western oil-gas region of Ukraine is the most important oil- and gas-producing region of Ukraine and is the oldest one as to the time of discovery of commercial deposits of hydrocarbons. In all 94 fields were discovered in the region. Six of them belong to great, eight – to middle and eighty – to small. The greatest amount of fields is in the Bilche-Volytsa (47) and the Boryslav-Pokuttya (39) oil-gas regions. In the Transcarpathian gas-bearing region five gas fields are known, in the Carpathian – two oil fields and within the limits of the Volyn-Podillya area – two gas fields. We have analysed the geochemical composition of oil and condensate for 3 structural-tectonic elements of the region: outer, inner zone of the Carpathian Foredeep and Folded Carpathians and the comparative analysis of the composition of natural hydrocarbons within the limits of the region was carried out. The analysis of peculiarities of the geological structure and oil and gas presence in the totality with available geochemical data has allowed us to come to a conclusion that formation of oil and gas deposits in the Western oil- and gas-bearing region is caused both lateral and vertical migration of hydrocarbons.

Abstract

The Eastern oil- and gas-bearing region of Ukraine is the youngest one as regards the discovery of commercial hydrocarbon deposits and the greatest one in terms of volume of explored reserves and hypothetical resources. It is confined to the Dnieper-Donets Depression. There were more then 240 hydrocarbon deposits discovered here. We have analyses the geochemical composition of oil and condensate for 3 main structural-tectonic elements of the region: northern, southern edges and depression, as well as we have carried out comparative analysis of the composition of natural hydrocarbons within the limits of the region. The analysis of the peculiarities of geological structure and oil and gas presence together with available geochemical data has made it possible to come to a conclusion about that the formation of oil and gas deposits in the Eastern oil- and gas-bearing region was caused both by lateral and vertical migration of hydrocarbons.
